Niyaz Azadikhah

About

Niyaz Azadikhah is a self-taught multi-disciplinary and community artist based in Paris. Through her work from painting and stitch work to video animation, Niyaz relates the stories of the people she comes across and explores the inner worlds of the storytellers and their emotions centered around fear, love, childhood memories, confessions, cultural taboos, and traumas where she is immersed in as an Iranian artist.

Niyaz produces and reproduces each story to a visual voice as she needles in the story, threading a narrative that shapes into a stitched drawing as the inherent soft and delicate nature of thread on fabric evokes the same texture as in the intimacy of the emotions depicted and to burrow right into the consciousness of the viewer, and makes them engage with their personal feelings while addressing them directly to a scene.

Her works have been featured in numerous exhibitions including Centre Pompidou, Fondazione Imago Mundi, Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, and Palais de Tokyo. Her latest animation videos are part of the Collectivity of Corsica – FRAC Corsican.
